SAFE IN HIS ARMS

It all came down to a promise. A vow between friends made at the embarking of an adventure to ensure a young woman’s safety and to stabilize her future. At the time that it was made, neither Patrick Flanagan nor Raymond Carletti realize just how thoroughly the strength of that bond would be tested, or how soon. But less than a week later, Raymond and his wife are killed in a plane crash, leaving Patrick to pick up the pieces.

Raymond and Mary’s only daughter, Rachel, is devastated by the news. Young and sinfully sheltered at the age of twenty-two, the college student/part-time barmaid finds life without her family unbearable. Numbed by grief, cocooned in vulnerability and lingering uncertainty, Rachel is well on her way to becoming one more victim of the crash that had claimed her parents.

Patrick couldn’t let that happen. Nor could he allow his handsome nephew, recently brought in to manage the pub where Rachel works, to injure the fragile girl further. Joshua would never stoop so low as to kick someone who was down, but he would--and does, much to Patrick's dismay--step well aside in order to avoid being inadvertently kicked himself.
